5 Little Monkeys

We stuck all the monkeys on the bed and placed the number 5 in the box. Then we sang the song and removed one monkey one by one (as they fall off the bed) while changing the number cards, until there are zero monkeys left. This 5 Little Monkeys activity is great for counting, number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence. Derek enjoyed singing the song and counting. He really liked the number zero best. We are still working on recognizing what each number looks like and this activity was great for helping this. After we sang the song through with the cards Derek wanted to have a turn singing the song and jumping on his bed. Then daddy was available so we used the cards again and all sang the song and counted together.
