Animal Rescue – 2

We did another animal rescue activity. I filled a container with some zoo animals, lizards and counting bear toys. Then I used painters tape to tape the top of the container leaving some spaces between the tape. I gave Derek tweezers to use to rescue the animals from the container. He had to not only be able to use the tweezers to pick up an animal but he had to maneuver through the tape. The this was a bit challenging using the tweezers so he switch to using his hands to get the animals out. Then like Derek he started singing songs with the animals. He got the idea to put the animals on top of the tape and have like they are walking on it. It reminded me of the elephants on a spiders web song so I introduced it to Derek changing it a bit to the animals we had. Derek then tried taking the tape off the container. This was more tricky for him then I expected. He couldn’t quite figure out the way the tape was over leaped and what one had to be removed first. Eventually with some help we got the tape off and all the animals were free.
