Counting Pom Poms

Each caterpillar had a different number of circles that you place a Pom Pom on and count. Derek would put the Pom poms on but not always in order so it would mess up his counting. He lost interest pretty quickly as when we got to bigger numbers that needed lots of Pom poms they would roll away and make it very difficult. This frustrated Derek. We tried with stickers which worked better but by then Derek had lost interest and didn’t do many. We just counted the circles on each caterpillar and went and did something else. Despite the videos showing Derek doing the activity fairly well, in reality it was a bit much for him. This activity is definitely geared more to preschoolers.
